WE SHINE RIDES AND HELP YOU FEEL GREAT WHEN YOU DRIVE
As quickly as summer gets here, it seems we are already into fall. Though the height of the color may be fading, there is still time to get out and enjoy this beautiful time of the year.
The fall brings a variety of changes-- from the new schedule, to changes in colors and the feel of cool weather. It is a season of change as the days grow shorter and advance toward winter. Fall is in the air and trees are losing more and more leaves. When it comes to seasons in Bozeman, it seems to be a short fall as the wild winds bring down those leaves. It is a reminder of the approaching winter and the requirements that the winter season in our area brings. With the winter quickly approaching, there are a number of winterizing tasks to accomplish while the pleasant fall weather remains. Does your after summer " to do" list stilll have listings? Are you eager to get the rest of that list checked off? As you keep the process going through the fall, preplanning for winter can certainly make life easier when the weather turns. The changes occur in the use of your recreation equipment as well. For many people the fall is the end of a quick but enjoyable summer of action sports on the water. There are the boats and watercraft that need final prep for winter storage. With the limited storage options in our area, planning ahead is helpful. Your winter-prep checklist should include: Ensuring that equipment is working properly for the next season. It is often beneficial to keep a checklist of all that the boat needs before the winter erases that vivid memory, Being ready for spring can start right now. It may be worthwhile to have the gear cleaned and tested for any leaks or troubles. It may be worth starting on the first part of fully cleaning and detailing your boat. It can help you to get a start on the winterization process. This is particularly helpful as long as safe enclosed storage is the next destination. What is most essential to keeping your recreational vehicles somewhat fresh while they sit? In a recent post, we talked about the use of household items for cleaning especially if you are preparing your vehicle for a further detail in the future. Draining the gas is highly recommended for winter storage. It is something you can do to avoid the extra trouble of old gas, later in the spring, when you are trying to start your engine. Also on the list: Make sure the outside of your boat is not full of residue and other small remnants from the time spent in the water this summer. Check the common places that collect standing water. It also helps to locate any places that need to be sealed before the cold affects them. Check areas that are open to corrosion-- important for keeping down the mess and the destruction of integral parts. If possible, add a couple other pieces to the storage areas in the hull of the boat to keep all the gear collected and safe. It can be a good idea to use a moisture displacing lubricant on areas prone to too much moisture buildup. Just a precaution to keep the equipment free of extra damaging moisture. It will allow you to be a little more free of worry as you secure the cover over your boat. What are the best places to store your recreational equipment? If possible, keep it in a weather proof storage area to minimize the effects of those freezing temperatures and the build up of ice and snow. It is not a bad idea to be extra careful when you’re working on your preparation for a long winter. It can minimize the stress when spring comes again. As you think about the challenges of the new season it may be time to consider giving us a call. We will do our best to answer questions on what needs to be winterized as well as what would be worth having cleaned.

Are you a school sports enthusiast--running around to all the school sports events that your family and friends are involved in? It occurs in the fall each year, but for others it may be an itching to get out and feel the adrenaline from a whole different sort of fall sport-- I’m talking about the elusive wildlife that many go in search of around this time of year. With the incredible weather, it is hard to stay inside when that call of the wild beckons. For some this means adding in a few trips in the vehicle in hope of adding the trophy of all trophies to their hunting record.
In preparation for this year's hunting season, have you gone out and sighted in your gun? Bow season is already in full swing and rifle season draws closer. It can be a good chance to pull the camping gear back out and wash your camouflage off for another fall tour of the wilderness. If you are at all into hunting, activity increases around mid October with the start of rifle season. As the bright morning dawns there are many hunters that are looking for the prize of a big buck or for that large bull elk. Hunters are eager to use those tags and help fill a freezer with meat. With such a wide range of possibilities in the valley, there are many things to consider when planning. Do you like to look for that herd far out in the backcountry? The plans for a day of hunting involve mapping the trek out which is always a good thing to consider before venturing out on a long trip into the wilderness. Don’t forget to add any needed supplies, like a flashlight, extra water, some snack items, and a couple extra old blankets and sheets in which to wrap the fresh kill, keeping the smell down, as well as helping eliminate an excessive amount of vehicle cleaning later. If you need the full clean after you have returned from the field, keep us in mind as the enjoyment of the hunt a day later can become secondary to the need of a thorough cleansing of your vehicle. It takes a little while to get the smell out of a car that has been used for hunting; since there is a lot to clean up whether its leftover fur or blood. It can be beneficial to keep things well wrapped and ventilated. Let us know what you are most excited for this season and don’t forget to share you favorite hunting story or photo. We want to hear from you on what works the best for initially cleaning or protecting your vehicle before and after the hunt. Leave us a line on our Facebook page. It may be that hunting is not your thing and instead, you are already preparing for the ski season by looking at the weather in hopes that you will be able to get out for some early season backcountry skiing. Whatever your passion we deal with vehicles that have many demands, and we are happy to take care of the extra burden of cleaning up after all the fun. |
